Bregenz – this is the town where you have to go! As the capital of Vorarlberg with ca. 30.000 inhabitants, it attracts over a hundred thousand tourists every year. It enchants with its flair especially visitors from Germany.

The location at Lake Constance and therefore the direct proximity to Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein naturally also play a major role. One feels here in the large community of the four countries at home and spends therefore gladly its free days here. So nothing stands in the way of an extensive bike tour along the shores of Lake Constance! The smooth connection to the Alps is also an advantage. So you spend the day with wonderful hiking tours in nature and in winter on the slopes skiing or snowboarding.

In Bregenz, above all, there is a huge selection of shopping opportunities. In the clothes section, shopping lovers will find every questionable item here, ranging from everyday to fancy. In addition, the city offers a wide range of exclusive fashion stores, jewelry stores worth seeing and optical specialists.

In addition to museums on the history of Bregenz and Vorarlberg, there are art galleries that regularly host events that whet your appetite for more. For those who still haven’t had enough, the upper town is guaranteed to provide a suitable moment to take in the imposing city.

Three highlights in Bregenz that you must have seen

To ensure that no visitor is bored on his trip through Bregenz, the city offers numerous opportunities to adapt the day to his individual needs.

The Pfänder

The Pfänder, also known as the local mountain of Bregenz, is a real sensation with its 1064 meters of altitude. If you want, you can look forward to wonderful hikes. The Pfänderbahn brings everyone else to the top. Here in nature, high above, with a wonderful view of Lake Constance, it is possible to live consciously – without constraint.

Cyclists also get a taste here: from the saddle you can enjoy the panorama from a different angle. The more athletic ones are already climbing to the top of the mountain from the bottom of the hill. All the others can use the service of the Pfänderbahn, which brings them up with their bicycles. Here freedom, life and simply happiness come together.

The Bregenz Festival

The legendary Bregenz Festival is like every year the sensation. Wonderful operas are performed in the Festspielhaus, the Seestudio, the Werkstattbühne and the Seebühne and delight their visitors. The lake stage is the most famous venue for the event.

Due to its special location directly on or. in Lake Constance, the element of water is embedded in the operas, thus enchanting their audiences – something like this does not exist everywhere. The special feeling does not come here guaranteed too briefly.

The Kunsthaus Bregenz

This special building was built from 1990 to 1997 by the Swiss architect Peter Zumthor and shines today literally in the light of Lake Constance. The many glass panels on its facade stand for the high recognition of the noble building, which reflects different colors in the sun depending on the incidence of light. Zumthor was awarded the “Mies van der Rohe Award for European Architecture” in 1998, making the Kunsthaus Bregenz one of the world’s most important museum buildings in contemporary architecture.
